Taming the Wind

About

Taming the Wind

Taming the Wind is community advocacy from Ranchos de Taos — rooted in horses, rangeland, and the belief that rural communities do best when neighbors organize around clear, reasonable requests and bring them to the people who can act.

This site is how we do that. Each petition states a specific ask, collects verifiable signatures from the people it affects, and goes to the officials responsible as a complete package: a cover letter, the signature list, and a printable copy. No national platform, no fundraising pop-ups, no selling your name.

What we work on

  1. Road safety for riders, walkers, cyclists, and drivers who share rural county roads.
  2. Wildlife corridors and crossing safety where roads cut through habitat.
  3. Rural character — agricultural heritage, open land, and dark skies.
  4. Horse welfare and the working relationship between people and animals.
